High Water Study, Cooler Research, Volunteer Activities and Proposed Modification of Glen Canyon Dam

This study was initiated as a result of the Hualapai reasserting their claim that the reservation’s boundary extents to the middle of river.  The solicitor general’s finding is that the Park’s boundary extends to the “high water mark”  – which is undefined.  GCPBA undertook an engineering study to define its location.  The study took 6 months and was presented to Park Law Enforcement and  Permit Office personnel.   Here’s the report

Keeping your perishables cold – not to mention your beverages, is a daunting task.  How long can you keep things chilled on a 16 day trip in July?   Herewith is documentation on extensive research by GCPBA Board member Blakely LaCroix.  See Volumes 1,  2,  3, 4  also published in Boatman’s Quarterly Review.

Activities by Board members and others have been numerous.  GCPBA has coordinated with a number of organizations.  Herewith a few examples from the past:  Campsites below Pearce  and River Etiquette Flyer coordinated with Grand Canyon River Guides.

GCPBA’s recommended modifications to Glen Canyon Dam can be found here.  The modifications are to improve the river corridor’s ecosystem.
